Reviews for the game are already glowing, and you can read our own Paul Tassi's review here.
One thing that's different about Odyssey from the rest of the series is your ability to pick either a female or male protagonist. That's pretty cool, especially since they're not just generic versions of one another.

Kassandra Vs Alexios
Having played just a portion of the game with each character I cannot answer that question definitively. What I can say is that I vastly prefer Kassandra (played by Melissanthi Mahut) to Alexios (played Michael Antonakos) purely in terms of performance. There's nothing wrong with Alexios, but Kassandra just feels more natural.
Well, that's not quite true. Alexios comes off as almost...goofy? I'm not sure that's the right word. To me, though, his accent and performance is just not what I was expecting. Maybe it's just that the voice and face just don't line up properly. Meanwhile, Kassandra is perfect. More subtle, more natural.
I also enjoy playing as a female Assassin, something we haven't had a ton of chances to do in this franchise. Truth be told, I often play as female characters when given the chance because . . . why not? I'm a man in real life, after all. Might as well play as a woman in pretend land. Then again, if I enjoyed Alexios more than Kassandra I'd play him instead. Fact is, I don't. Kassandra is best.
That's obviously just my opinion and I'm definitely curious to hear yours as well. Which character do you prefer? Which will you be playing as when the game launches this Friday?
Assassin's Creed Odyssey releases this Friday. It's the follow-up to last year's excellent Assassin's Creed Origins.

Kassandra and Alexios are siblings, and regardless of which one you pick both will play a role in your game---a game, I should add, that's filled with choices that will shape your playthrough and ending. Without spoiling anything, let's get right down to brass tacks. Which is the better character to play as?

Given that you'll spend a ton of time with these characters---looking at them, listening to them and so forth---enjoying the vocal performance matters. If you're a fan of the Mass Effect games you know exactly what I mean. FemShep is best, and Kassandra is Assassin's Creed Odyssey's FemShep.
